The Saline New Horizons Band, under the direction Dr. Joseph Labuta, was founded in June of 2004 and is affiliated with more than 150 other New Horizons Bands in the United States and Canada. The bands are part of the New Horizons International Music Association. Our adult band is open to musicians of every level of experience and many of our members are over 50. Some of our members have played musical instruments many years ago in school but some are brand new to reading and playing music. Some of our members are expanding their "new horizons" with private instruction on their instrument. The main ingredient in our band is the opportunity to make good music and good friends. If you are interested in joining the band, just come to one of our rehearsals. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the Liberty School Band Room at 7265 Saline-Ann Arbor Road in Saline. A beginners group is led by Associate Director Grant Hoemke and meets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings at the same location.
